LaGuardia Arts Scholastic Guide Project
Description:
LaGuardia students from freshmen to seniors wonder how to cite sources, take notes, and solve equations, but no single text exists to specifically address the unique needs of the 2,539 young people at our school. Imagine each student possessing a manual containing DBQ expectations, common musical terms, and lab report guidelines. There is no need to dream about this guide: The thirty-four page LaGuardia Arts Scholastic Guide is real, and it was created by our very own teachers. Dr. Washington, Ms. Gala, Ms. Dell, Ms. Hartnett, and many others worked hard to create the Scholastic Guide. Mr. Moore laid out the thirty-four page guide, organizing its components and making it reader-friendly. A test group of students tried using the guide and helped us to make it even better; additional teacher feedback during a workshop also shaped the document. The use of this manual by students and teachers will help teachers work together to achieve shared objectives because the guide includes rubrics and information about standards that help to ensure that one teacher’s assessments will be meaningful to another.
